These are possibly the cutest things I’ve ever crocheted. The patterns are straightforward but I did have some confusion mostly due to my inexperience with amigurumi patterns. I’ve only made one other amigurumi prior to starting this and did not realise working in spiral vs joining in rounds is a thing. The patterns also didn’t have a glossary and may be a bit more work for someone who has no experience in crocheting from patterns. The designer was very responsive to my gazillion queries and it made these patterns a delight to work with. The numerous WIP pictures included in the patterns were also very helpful as I could refer to them to make sure I was on the right track.
Pattern eBook: Superheroes (you can purchase each superhero pattern separately)
Size: About 6″ (I used a thinner yarn so they turned out slightly smaller compared to the original 7″)
Yarn: Moda Vera Marvel 8 Ply Plain, 4 Seasons Marvel 8 Ply, 4 Seasons Pure Wool 8 Ply, Thorobred 8 Ply Acrylic (assorted colours)
Hook: 3.5mm, 3mm
It’s funny that my hulk turned out to be the smallest of the lot.
For Superman and Batman capes, I left a long tail at the start rather than the end of the capes as you begin crocheting at the neck part which is where you’ll sew the capes to the dolls. I also sewed on the “S” rather than draw it with a marker.
For Batman’s ears and bat symbol, I followed the Amigurumi Batman pattern I made previously as I couldn’t seem to get the ones in this pattern to look right.
Spiderman was rather fiddly to make due to the webbing but it’s my favourite of the lot and I love how it turned out.
I added ears to my Iron Man by:
R1: 6 sc into magic ring (6)
R2: 2 sc in each sc (12)
I didn’t add mouths to my superheroes.
And now they’re ready to fight some crime!
